It’s a natural progression, really. Having shuffled their way confidently to the top of the tree when it comes to reassuringly expensive socks, Japanese hosiery kings Anonymous Ism have applied the same process to crew necks.

The result is an amazing array of knitwear that would enhance the wardrobe of everyone from the compass patch Dads to the cutting-edge gorpcore guys. There’s even a hint of that multi-coloured look and feel favoured by brands like Missoni, which can’t be a bad thing.

Given the price of the socks, and the amount of thread consumption on these crew necks they’re actually reasonably priced.

Constructed using a pretty precise mix of Acrylic, Cotton, Nylon and Wool this blend makes most of these slightly psychedelic sweaters less stuffy, yet still weighty. If you’re into 100% wool, one of them offers that, too. As I write this, the windows of the office are rattling to the sound of intermittent snow, sleet and hail showers so really, it’s probably time I invested in something that makes me look like a fisherman on the good ship LSD.
